Yongnuo 85mm F1.8S DF DSM lens for Sony E-Mount is almost half the price of the Sony 85mm F1.8 FE. I did a full comparison between these two lenses (check it out here if you havent already) and let me know your thoughts of its sharpness.

85mm is a great focal length especially for portrait photography as well as for videos to get great b-rolls of product shots. Yongnuo has not saved on build quality and based on DxOMark, its one of the sharpest 85mm lenses on the market.

Viltrox just released their wide angle, fast aperture Viltrox 16mm f1.8 FE Prime lens for Sony Alpha shooters (full review video on my YouTube channel).

The lens is described as a wide-angle beast compatible with full-frame cameras, boasting an impressively large aperture that ensures “excellent” autofocus performance, surpassing my expectations.

Viltrox lens has 15 elements grouped into 12 groups. This construction includes three aspherical elements and four extra-low dispersion elements to produce ultra-high resolution and effectively mitigating dispersion, ghosting, and glare.

Equipped with a versatile aperture range spanning from f/1.8 to f/22, the lens incorporates a nine-bladed diaphragm known for generating stunning bokeh effects, particularly remarkable for a wide-angle lens. Furthermore, the wide aperture promises improved low-light performance, allowing photographers to capture exceptional shots even in challenging lighting conditions – something astrophotographers can certainly look forward to test.

The autofocus mechanism of the lens is driven by a high-performance stepping motor. This precise autofocus function seamlessly integrates with Sony’s cutting-edge tracking technology, including advanced face and eye focus features.

The most intriguing feature of the lens is undoubtedly the inclusion of a generously-sized color LCD situated on the top side of the lens. This display showcases vital lens information during shooting, utilizing an RGB IPS panel with a resolution of 160 by 80 pixels.

Well my name is Toms and I am a guy who makes YouTube videos for two reasons, first for fun, because I like taking photos and shooting videos and second (which probably the most important reason) I love giving back to people, be it an advice, some tip or knowledge.

THE BET

The reason I created this website is because I had a tal with my friend Kristaps who said I need to create a website. I said I don’t since I didn’t have even 100 subscribers on YouTube. So I made a bet with him if I reach 1000 subscribers, I will create the website. So here we are, me keeping my promise.
